The Dutch giants face Valencia in the Europa League

PSV Eindhoven are Valencia’s next opponents in the Europa League Last-16 and the Dutch side are coming into the game on the back of a heavy defeat at home domestically.

PSV were beaten 6-2 by their title rivals FC Twente at the Phillips Stadium, a scoreline that they are used to producing on a regular basis in the Eredivisie and are very rarely on the end of.

Despite the defeat PSV lie in third place and are still only a point away from AZ Alkmaar who are top and they are level on points with FC Twente who are in second.

Valencia shouldn’t take PSV lightly just because they are coming off a heavy defeat, if anything this loss will make the Dutch team more determined to recover from that with a positive result at the Mestalla on Thursday night.

The Dutch side have some talented young players which Valencia will have to watch out for. In particular the Swedish international Ola Toivonen and the Dutch internationals Georginio Wijnaldum and Kevin Strootman will be a threat.

PSV are a very attack-minded team and they will look to score at the Mestalla in the first leg. They defeated Trabzonspor 6-2 on aggregate in the last round and they have scored 62 goals in the Dutch league this season, albeit in an average league.

But they do pose a threat offensively and Valencia will have to produce a perfect first leg performance against them in order to keep a clean sheet.
