Interview: Guaita

SuperDeporte conducted an interview with Valencia’s goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.

How do you find yourself?

Good, it’s been a while since I’ve played but I’m training and haven’t lost my rhythm. I’m not completely happy because I would have liked to beat Cádiz which would have led the path to their knockout. At least the goals remained at zero which is important in the next game.

Did your hand hurt?

I did not notice anything. We’re talking about my hand, but it was just another bother, like that of anyone’s foot. During the game I felt nothing, during training with the team it didn’t hurt. If it was like that, I would have stopped. With what the doctors do, I am much better.

For a goalkeeper, is it hard to put yourself in action?

No, anyone has to be prepared to play at any moment. You always have to be alert.

Exactly, what is the history of your injury? When you played against Levante, Getafe, Zaragoza, did your hands hurt?

I had a discomfort and I continued to withstand it although every week that passed the pain would go and then come back at one point. During the break is when it came back to do damage. The pain would not go, in every instance I felt it. And then I could not continue training because I wasn’t at ease nor did I work well. Now they made me a splint, I was not allowed to make movement backwards, and very well because I could not notice it

Some did not understand that you could train, but not play, did this get hard?

Well, like any weekend when your on the bench. It’s normal for any footballer to want to play any game. If it wasn’t like that, you would not be a Valencia player. If not, to help out as a substitute.

Every time you left the goal, it was for injury.

Last year also, the same thing occurred but now you have to keep practicing because the goal is never going to be assured, not in Valencia, not in any place. You always have to be to the fullest. I am one more.

Now do you know if you are going to be goalkeeper for the Copa del Rey or Europa League?

Still, all those games haven’t come yet, I am thinking of Málaga only, and working to play that game and help the team.

Has all the speculation about you leaving the goal bothered you? Being said that if you can train, you can also play.

Bothered no. But I did feel strange for a situation I never lived through. I’ve had few injuries and the one’s that I did receive were prompt. You feel strange because you have not lied it although it is normal and you have to live with it because you’re a footballer. I never paid much mind to the speculations. It’s an injury and at best the mister did not want to stop me because I have played games and haven’t stopped. He decided that it was with the team and I was happy.

What explanation do you have of the teams current low form?

I do not think there is any dip in form, just the the results haven’t been coming. The team is playing well, delivering physically, working very hard and we are all united. That said, we have to turn this situation around.

Well the manager said that the mentality has been lost since the game against Espanyol.

It was not our best day but the team has concentrated it’s mentality on every game. We were clueless, we need to be more alert so that the same thing that happened against Espanyol won’t happen again.

After getting eliminated from the Champions League earlier than last season, how would you explain that you all haven’t taken a step backwards?

If you see the results, yes. But this year we have also found something important in the Europa League as to entering the round of sixteen in the Champions League like we did last year. We have to work hard if we want to find a cup. We want to go as far as possible.

Do you like that teams with so much potential have entered the Europa League?

Yes, because it is a competition that seems as though it is not important and, although it’s not Champions, it is what it is for the teams that are participating.

And, to surpass in the league, you would have to get second place.

Coming from behind there are important teams but we have to look ahead. They lead us by many points but we have to try to cut that back and, why not be first?

Off topic, but our new arena should be named Estadio de Naranja(Orange Arena) if not Nou Mestalla. What do you think about that?

Amunt Vicente Guaita! Still my favorite of the two goalkeepers, last year he was amazing when Cesar was out. We have such a luxury with two amazing goalkeepers, not a lot of teams can say that.

    We Want Guaita Back!

Valencia has put the transfer from VDW on hold and looking now at a player from Dinamo Zagreb: Sime Vrsaljko

Man City and Arsenal also show interest in this player. 4 million should be enough..

    • http://www.valenciacf.com/es/ElEquipo/ Giel

I’ve seen some games of Zagreb in the Champions League and what I’ve seen wasn’t good enough. The price is reasonable, but if I want a new RB, it must someone who you put immediatly in the first squad, like VDW.

    • Cile

Vršaljko only, if Emery wants to put a player behind Barragan in the pecking order. I’m not at all happy Valencia is linked with him, he’s just an overpriced and overhyped Croatian. Either get VDW or a proper spanish fullback if Valencia want to improve their right side. Vršaljko and his club meanwhile can go to hell!

Stoke City in Europa League draw

    • http://www.valenciacf.com/es/ElEquipo/ Giel

Good one for us, we are better then Stoke, defenitely if you look at speed and technique.

After Stoke we play against Trabzonspor/PSV Eindhoven, and Valencia is capable of beating them both.
      Good draw imo. Amunt!

      • Cile

Minor problem: Stoke are known to be very defensive and Valencia struggle against sides like this. Beating Stoke will not be a piece of cake.

        • Stanley

You know it’s true, and on top of that, they’re a very physical side with a lot of size. I’m still confident our Che can get the better of them in both legs. It won’t be easy, though.

      • YourmothA^

We were better than Genk to in speed and technique, and look what happend on the away match. Stoke is also better than Genk so forget 7-0 at home.

    COME ON,Guaita!!!!

    AMUNT!!!!!
