Alba wants to move on from the Copa exit
Valencia wing-back Jordi Alba has stated that the team’s focus is now directed towards achieving a top-four finish in the Primera Liga and to win the Europa League, after their elimination from the Copa Del Rey against Barcelona on Wednesday night.
”We have to think about the league, which is the competition that can lead us to the next edition of the Champions League and we must not forget about the Europa League which is also a very nice competition.”
Alba admitted that the team were ‘annoyed’ with their defeat to Barcelona but he acknowledged that the team didn’t play well and made costly mistakes.
A few days ago, in an interview with Gol Television, Alba was quoted as saying ‘any player as a kid dreams of winning things with Barcelona’, which has once again intensified the rumours that the young Spaniard will be joining the Catalans this summer.
But Alba claims he was misinterpreted. ”They took my words out of context,” said the 22 year-old, ”But that has not been disrespectful to anyone because the truth is that every kid dreams of returning to the first club team he played for.”
