Soldado: No-one Is Indispensible

He regrets Mata’s exit, but assures that the hope “is the same” and he believes that Valencia can improve on last season.

“The team has been reinforced well this season.  No player is indispensible.  Last year, the team performed just as well without certain players, and this season, the team seems more competitive.  Inside the dressing room we are convinced that we can do the same as last season, or even better.  The hope and excitement is te same as it was a few days ago,” said Roberto Soldado.

Regarding Mata, he stated, “a great person is going.  A player that was great in the dressing room.  It’s a great loss, but you must also realise that his position is well covered and the rest of the players can show their worth and that they can perform at the same level as Mata.”

Soldado also recognised that due to Valencia’s delicate financial situation, the sale of the number 10 is “an act of responsibility.”

Finally, talking about the strike, the number 9 said, “I hope that it’s sorted soon.  This weekend I was dying of jealousy seeing the other European leagues.”
