Valencia and Chelsea in Vargas Race

Valencia made a €5 million bid for the player, but Universidad want a higher bid.

It was revealed last week that Valencia are seriously interested in signing the Chilean forward Eduardo Vargas for next season. However the move is very complicated as three of the most powerful clubs in Europe are interested in signing him, Chelsea, Milan and Inter.

Valencia have made an offer for his team that ranges between 5 and 6 million euros. But the offer is too low for the top scorer of the Copa Sudamericana (the equivalent of the Europa League in South America). It is reported that Chelsea and Zenit have offered €7.5 million for the player, Universidad aim for a deal of €10 million.

If the player agrees to move to a club in Europe in January, his club want him to be loaned to them until the end of the European season in order to play with the Copa Libertadores, for this reason European clubs are asking to be insured if Vargas receives an injury during that period and if so the deal could cost €2 million less.

Moving on to Valencia’s other target Diego Mauricio, yesterday the president of his club Flamengo Luiz Veloso said that the player is not for sale except if the club receive a huge offer for him.

Could it be a red herring? Braulio usually tries to avoid getting into a bidding war with the bigger clubs for a well-known player.

I saw him score in the final a couple of days ago. HE IS GREAT, I want this guy!
